About the Garden Suite
Four suites along the garden side of the house, each with French doors onto its own paved terrace and the walled garden beyond. The easiest rooms in the house to arrive at and the hardest to leave in the morning.
The garden rooms were the old house's day rooms: high ceilings, deep sash windows and a run of French doors we opened up again after decades behind plasterboard. Walls are finished in lime plaster in the colour of the local clay, floors are recycled messmate, and the beds are dressed in washed Belgian linen.
Two of the four take a dog. One, Garden Suite 1, is our step-free suite, with a wider door, a roll-in shower and a bed at the right height; tell us if you need it and we'll hold it for you.

- Garden Suite 1 is step-free from the car park to the bed, with a level path of firm gravel and brick
- Doorways at least 920 mm wide
- Roll-in shower with a fold-down seat, hand-held shower and grab rails
- Bed height of 520 mm, with clear space of 1.5 m on one side
- Lever taps and handles; light switches at 1 m
- Vibrating smoke alarm and doorbell light on request
